I have always been an inveterate snapper of everything and anything.From the age of maybe 5/6 or 7 I have had a camera or a pencil in my hand.
I am currently inspired by the Japanese concepts of…
Wabi-sabi the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, incomplete and Ma “an emptiness full of possibilities or a promise yet to be fulfilled”, the negative space in between - inspiring and fascinating also ukiyo-e, wood block printing which originated in the floating world of edo the town which changed it’s name and became Tokyo. I also love Ikebana the Japanese art of making designs and displays with plants in which Wabi Sabi and Ma are central.
I used to have 2020 vision now everything isnot quite as sharp, but that is okay I still have a vision On my journey into photography there have been many influences and sometimes distractions.
Like with painting and art there are rules, the golden mean, the rule of thirds etc. I say throw them all out of the window and follow your vision.In fact developing your vision is what matters.
Like may people who make a creative journey I developed heroes for a time and moved on.Ansel Adams would pre visualise an image as a range of black & white tonesand shoot then develop his images to recreate his vision, he called it the zone system. Henri Cartier Bresson coined the phrase ‘the decisive moment’ that split second which transforms a photo into a story of light or content. John Clarridge, Ernst Haas and Pete Turner were masters of colour, saturation, movement and grain.
There are purists who say do not crop,do not over process, do not use HDR RUBBISH!.
I have a vision which is my vision and just as B&W removes an image from reality by removing the emotive colour content, I visualise before and after making an image and I interpret it, sometimes true to life sometimes true to my vision,colour, hue and saturation manipulation to suit the mood I want to create, as a friend recently said -"sometimes there is a fine line between photography and painting".At the end of the day my mantra is whatever lights your candle, just do it.

The menu shows collections which contain galleries, if you click on a gallery you can then view the images. The galleries are scrolling galleries , use the arrows for navigation. If you want to see an image larger just click on it.
The site contains a great many images some are cross referenced and appear in one or two locations.
The images are the product of an incessant desire to record colour, light, shape form and happenings as my interpretations.
I do not claim them to be special in anyway just my passion and if you the viewer gets a moment of pleasure that is a bonus.

Wabi-sabi la belleza de las cosas imperfectas, impermanentes, incompletas y Ma "un vacío lleno de posibilidades o una promesa aún por cumplir", el espacio negativo en el medio - inspirador y fascinante también ukiyo-e, impresión de dos bloques de madera que se originó en el mundo flotante de edo la ciudad que cambió su nombre y se convirtió en Tokio. También me encanta el Ikebana, el arte japonés de hacer diseños y exhibiciones con plantas en el que el Wabi Sabi y el Ma son fundamentales.
Solía tener una visión del 2020, ahora todo no es tan nítido, pero está bien, todavía tengo una visión En mi viaje a la fotografía ha habido muchas influencias y a veces distracciones.
Al igual que en la pintura y el arte, hay reglas, la media de oro, la regla de los tercios, etc. Yo digo que las tires todas por la ventana y sigas tu visión, de hecho, desarrollar tu visión es lo que importa.

Tengo una visión que es mi visión y, al igual que el blanco y negro aleja una imagen de la realidad al eliminar el contenido de color emotivo, visualizo antes y después de hacer una imagen y la interpreto, a veces fiel a la realidad y a veces fiel a mi visión, manipulando el color, el matiz y la saturación para adaptarla al estado de ánimo que quiero crear, como dijo recientemente un amigo: "a veces hay una fina línea entre la fotografía y la pintura".

Las imágenes son el producto de un deseo incesante de registrar el color, la luz, la forma y los acontecimientos como mis interpretaciones.
No pretendo que sean especiales de ninguna manera, sólo mi pasión, y si usted, el espectador, obtiene un momento de placer, eso es una ventaja.

for me the natural home for any image I make is a printed copy to be framed or as part of a book, these were the original destinations for photographic images, also transparencies to be projected or scanned for reproduction, now the majority of photographs appear as 0s and 1s on the internet.
para mí el hogar natural de cualquier imagen que hago es una copia impresa para ser enmarcada o como parte de un libro, estos eran los destinos originales de las imágenes fotográficas, también las transparencias para ser proyectadas o escaneadas para su reproducción, ahora la mayoría de las fotografías aparecen como 0s y 1s en internet.
